The Chris Mack era of Louisville Basketball is unofficially, officially underway with a victory over Division 2 powerhouse Bellarmine University.  Now, lets take a look at a few takeaways following this unofficial tip off to the season.

It was a rough shooting day for Louisville Basketball  in the KFC Yum! Center on Sunday. Even with fine execution and good ball movement the shots were just not falling for the Cardinals. At one point Louisville was 0-13 from beyond the arc until Dewayne Sutton finally knocked one down.

Offense was hard to come by in the first half but VJ King reeled off a quick 7 point swing to kick off the second half. King finished the day as Louisville’s leading scorer with 17 points and also grabbed 6 rebounds. The rebounding was a bright spot that stood out to a lot of fans. Fan favorite Jordan Nwora did not have his best shooting game going 2-13 with 10 points he did record a team high 9 boards.

While Coach Mack who by the way was the epitome of cool choosing to go tie-less on the sidelines has stated his starters could change from game to game, it was interesting to see Darius Perry start at the shooting guard slot. Trying not to take too much away from an exhibition game but the bench was impressive for the Cardinals. Depth is/was a concern but Dewayne Sutton, Malik Williams, and Ryan McMahon all played quality minutes and led the way for the second team that pitched in 16 points.
