Jeff Brohm – Purdue

Head Coach

Jeff Brohm is no doubt the lead coaching candidate with the most smoke around his name to become Louisville’s next head coach. Louisville’s native son who played at local Trinity HS and was a big time QB for Louisville in the early 90’s has made himself a hot commodity. His team in his second season currently sits with a 5-5 record with three top 25 wins in 2018, including a home upset against then #2 ranked Ohio State.

His overall record at Purdue is currently 12-11.

In just his first season, for the first time since 2011, the Boilermakers won a bowl game over the Arizona Wildcats by a score of 38-35. That same season, Purdue also cracked a 5 year drought claiming the Old Oaken Bucket against their in-state rivals, the Indiana Hoosiers.

He’s not just winning on the field. He’s also winning on the recruiting trail as well. This past recruiting cycle he landed Trinity HS (KY)  product, WR Rondale Moore. The 247 composite 4 star player has been a lightning bolt for Brohm and his Boilermaker program and 2019 recruits have taken notice.

Brohm has assembled a top 25 recruiting class thus far in the 2019 recruiting cycle, featuring commits from 10 different states. The class is currently highlighted by four different 4 star recruits, including most recent commit, Christian Academy (KY) product 4 star WR Milton Wright.

So if you’re paying attention, that’s two local 4 star products from the city of Louisville that Brohm has been able to lure away to West Lafayette. It’s absolutely plausible and likely to believe that if given the job, Brohm would put a fence around the top local HS products in the City of Louisville. It’s also likely he’d be able to pull many of the top kids from out in the state as well.

Often times there are coaches who get jobs who aren’t necessarily the top candidate, but are successful. On the flip side of that, there are good to great coaches who just don’t work out. A lot of that has to do with “fit.” In this case, Jeff Brohm would be the “best fit.”

The Brohm name locally has a level of celebrity and is like royalty. There’s not a coach anywhere Vince Tyra is going to be able to interview that fits the Louisville mold more.

Brohm understands where the UofL football program has come from. The history as he and his two brothers Greg and Brian also played and helped build that history. Jeff has helped build that culture not just as a player, but as a coach. He understands the importance and is emotionally invested in what Howard Schnellenberger meant when “The Pipe” gave his famous line; “Louisville is on a collision course with the National Championship. The only variable is time.”

Brohm understands where Louisville football wants to go and what the fans expectations are. Jeff Brohm simply is the embodiment of Louisville football.

You take all of that and combine that with Jeff’s ability to recruit the region and coach up talent. His ability to positively polarize the Cardinals fanbase; open pocketbooks, get everyone back on board and put butts in seats. He’s already proven he has the ability to win big games on the national stage while playing an exciting brand of football.

Jeff Brohm would be a tremendous hire for the Louisville Cardinals and there’s no one who would be the better fit. He’s a natural fit. He’s the best fit!
