Examining the candidates for the next head coach for Louisville football

Luke Fickell – Cincinnati

Head Coach

Learning from two different HOF coaches, Luke Fickell has taken that experience to the Cincinnati Bearcats program. In just his second season, Fickell has Cincinnati  at9-1 with a showdown against undefeated UCF this coming weekend.

Fickell who is currently 45 years old has previous HC experience at Ohio St (interim) and UC. He currently boasts a 19-16 record overall as a HC and figures to be a name on coaching hot boards this bowl season.

Known as a good recruiter, especially in the Ohio Valley region, Fickell helped secure the #1 recruiting class in 2018 in the AAC. While at Ohio St. as the DC, he landed numerous 5 star talents that were essential to them winning the 2015 College Football Playoffs and becoming National Champions.

Fickell could be a solid hire, but in my opinion his resume is lacking comparatively to other candidates. The other issue is I haven’t heard any buzz around him regarding the fans.

As this football season progressed, the Cardinals fans I’ve talked to about the possible firing of Bobby rarely mentioned Fickell as a real replacement.
