One big happy family

No matter what happens in this town with the University of Louisville, no matter how good or bad things have gotten at times, this fanbase has always come together (for the most part) to be one giant family.

Maybe you’re a fan who grew up during the infancy of Louisville athletic success, or you experienced the major come up in the 80’s with their first basketball championship. Or you’re a millennial who remembers only winning, and winning big. Whether you’re a Jurich or Tyra fan, whether you want Brohm or instead suggest the likes of Lane Kiffin, you all still love the Louisville Cardinals just as much.

What I’m trying to say is being a Louisville fan isn’t always easy, it’s not always glamorous, but dammit with the duck tape of hope and Bourbon, this fanbase has done incredible things and experienced memories together that you’ll never forget. We love our players, we love our coaches, we cuss and yell a little, and take things personal sometimes. But we are living a Cardinal lifestyle and we’re doing it together.

Jacob Lane (@JacobLane_BRL):

High-fiving and drinking beer at Cardinal Stadium and jumping around in section 115 in the Yum! Center, have become some of my favorite memories. Those fans that we cheer with, yell with, drink with have helped me and all of you forget scandal after scandal, bad publicity and stories, and think back to the finer days we’ve had and the good ones that lie just ahead. This family is just one big giant drunk, but jolly fanbase who I love dearly.

Good Time Charlie (GoodTymeCharles): I am thankful for the lifetime memories Louisville athletics has given me. The friends it has introduced me to. Big things are ahead for all of Louisville’s programs and I’m thankful to be along for the ride. Go Cards!

In the end, that is what it is all about- family. A lot of Louisville athletics success is driven by us, the fans and supporters. Whether you are a corporate sponsor, a donor, a season ticket holder, an avid game-watcher, a radio call-in personality, or a message board guru, you have a place in this fan base. Without our support, spiritual and financial contributions, and constant devotion to the school and city that we love, our programs would be nothing.

Despite recent plummet, Louisville football still owns Mark Stoops. dark. Next

From the president, to the athletic directors, to the student-athletes, to the fans, and everyone in between, be thankful this holiday season for this Louisville family. As separate entities, we are nothing to write home about, but as a group, the sky is the limit. And the trials and tribulations that we go through, we do it together. The hard times will pass, but even during those times, we had each other- and how could you not be thankful for that?
