Louisville basketball will head to New Jersey to take on former Big East foe, Seton Hall. We have five keys to the Cards getting their second straight win.

Chris Mack and the Louisville basketball program will enter Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center Saturday at noon, for their first true road game of the new season.

Coming in on the front side of a breaking wave of enthusiasm from Tuesday’s overtime triumph over the #9 Michigan State Spartans, the Cards will have a significant challenge at hand against Seton Hall(4-2), trying to contain the Big East’s leading scorer, guard Myles Powell.

Powell is averaging 24.3 points per game, while going 40% from the 3 point line and 90% from the charity stripe on the young season. He was named MOP of the 3 game Wooden Legacy Classic tournament, this past week, after beating Miami & Hawaii, and dropping a career high 40 points against Grand Canyon in the Pirates’ first game of the tournament.

Seton Hall is aiming to use their tournament success in California for some positive momentum after losing by 2 to Saint Louis on November 17th and falling at home, to Nebraska, on November 14th. The Pirates’ loss to Nebraska marked their first loss to a non-conference opponent in 30 games.

The Cardinals will look to find a way to break through the complex, changing defenses schemes of, former Louisville Assistant Coach, and current Seton Hall Head Coach, Kevin Willard. Coach Mack noted in a press conference Friday afternoon that the Pirates will certainly “use some different looks,” detailing everything from a Pitino-esque 2-3 Man Zone, to a 1-3-1 variation as well some traditional man to man defense.

The Pirates, in turn, will face the daunting task of stopping a Louisville offense that can score in a multitude of ways. The 2018-2019 Cardinals don’t mind attacking the rim, putting the ball up from deep, or posting inside with regularity and Seton Hall will definitely be searching for a way to hedge off the lesser of the 3 evils.
