Louisville basketball: 5 keys to taking down the Hoosiers
By Andy Harrell
Speed Up the Game
Simple Math gives us this key to the game. Louisville and Indiana both have identical “Points Per Possession” in the Ken Pomeroy rating system. At 1.11 PPP both teams appear in the upper 10% of this statistical category.
With that, statistically speaking, in infinite time the game would always be tied. Certainly in the back of coaching staff’s minds is the thought that Indiana’s rotation is objectively young. The more possessions there are in the game, the more mistakes this young team will likely make.
Louisville should look to try and continue getting opponents in foul trouble and going to the free throw line on offense while creating bad paces and arrant shots on the other end.
Indiana seems about as equally skilled to this Louisville team as any other team the Cards will face this season. Opportunity to capitalize on mistakes will be the surest way to a Louisville win in what will likely be a VERY competitive game.
