Louisville football coach Scott Satterfield has a lot of work ahead of him on the recruiting trail. We take a look at the Cards’s biggest needs going into the 2019 season.

It is hard to imagine that Scott Satterfield has slept much over the last couple of weeks. After accepting the head coaching position for Louisville football, he has spent the last week assembling a staff and evaluating current and incoming talent.

Satterfield was forced to make some tough decisions and, after lengthy discussions with recruiting coordinator Pete Nochta, Louisville has let most recruits know that they aren’t going to honor scholarship offers to those who were verbally committed to staff from the previous regime.

Satterfield and his rapidly-assembling staff is going to be forced to start from scratch only a week ahead of the early signing period, which begins on December 19th. Now, the Louisville recruiting class is composed of only three guys that the new staff wanted to hold on to.

Louisville will be forced to try to secure their three current recruits during the early signing period, and then go out and find around a dozen more players before National Signing Day on February 6th.

The current Louisville roster is full of talent at a lot of the skill positions, but the cupboard is completely bare in some other areas. With a limited number of scholarships to offer, the new staff will have to be intentional about their recruiting efforts, but also work quickly to try to flip some commitments or sign some junior college players to help them compete right away in 2019.

Let’s take a look at the positions of need for the Cards during this signing period, and where the coaching staff will look to find help.
