Who will emerge in the late signing period?

So, who do the Cards want to go after in the late signing period? The picture will become much more clear after the early signees officially ink with their schools of choice. The Cards would be able to survey the landscape, and key in on some guys starting December 22nd. However, let’s take a stab at some guys who figure to be in the mix.

A lot of Louisvile twitter conversation is going to be around Louisville Moore edge rusher JJ Weaver, but it is hard to imagine him flipping at this point. Still, Satterfield will shoot his shot, and I’d say Louisville’s chances are better than zero, but definitely not great.

Messiah deWeaver has not received any serious looks, and though the Cards appear to have reached out, it doesn’t look like there is an official scholarship extended. A lot of Louisville fans liked deWeaver when his name surfaced, but Satterfield is not a JUCO guy, so don’t look at deWeaver as a priority for the Cards at this time.

Pitt commit Calijah Kancey has been wavering a bit on his decision. There is no word as to whether or not he will sign in the early period, but if he doesn’t look for the Louisville staff to pursue this guy. He unofficially visited the Cards in April, and his most recent offer was from Appalachian State. He is a Miami guy, and coach Frank Ponce is a South Florida recruiting guru.

Louisville is in the final three for offensive lineman Liam Dick, who will be committing Wednesday. The Cards are competing with Pitt and Washington State for the services of the 6’7″ Canadian. This is a real diamond in the rough, who would probably be getting more love if he was from an area where high school football, or football at all, was prominent.

Could Ricky Kofoed wait to sign? The Appalachian State tight end commit hasn’t been much talked about, but if he doesn’t sign in the early period, you have to figure the Cards would have a shot. Satterfield and staff appeared to really like Kofoed, and he is a versatile player who would be an instant impact player.

It appears that former Louisville burner, and current Troy receiver, Treveon Samuel, could be headed back to Louisville as a graduate transfer. Samuel was a heck of a play-maker for the Cards, and would be a perfect fit for a year. Bobby Petrino could never quite figure out how to use Samuel in his offense, but he was electric with the ball in his hands. Imagine Samuel, Tutu Atwell, and Hassan Hall on the field at the same time with Malik Cunningham.

Louisville will have plenty of other names emerge in the coming weeks, but look for the Cards to hit the recruiting trail hard and find some players that best fit their system and culture.
