Creque followed one of the best seasons from a Louisville kicker ever with a very disappointing outcome in 2018. However, that is not to say that the burden of a poor season falls solely on him. His 12 field goal attempts (down from 20 in ’17 and 19 in ’16) were a product of a terrible offense. He only attempted 30 extra points after having 59 chances the prior season.

Losing Lamar Jackson, touchdown machine, definitely hurts, but the Cards never even afforded Creque opportunities last season. Scott Satterfield says that he sees special teams as 1/3rd of the game. The Cards will have a designated special teams coordinator in Stu Holt, who will be more than happy to have a reliable leg to trot out when the Cards stall inside the opponent’s 35 yard line.

Creque was 1st in the ACC, and second nationally in scoring in 2017, and as a 5th-year senior is likely to get back to his old ways in 2019. I’d anticipate Creque to get quite a few more cracks at field goals this season, and help steady the ship for the Cards by tacking points some underappreciated points on the board.
