Scott Satterfield and the Louisville football program landed their sixth commitment in the class of 2019 late Sunday evening.

After Scott Satterfield took the Louisville football head coaching job back in December, one of the biggest priorities for him and his staff was rebuilding the recruiting class in 2019 – which fell apart towards the end of Bobby Petrino’s stay in the Ville.

After picking up commitments from Dorian Jones and Evan Conley during the early signing period things were beginning to look up for Satterfield, who had to answer the question of whether he would be able to recruit at the ACC level after moving from Appalachian State. At the time Satterfield had just Frank Ponce and Bryan Brown committed to joining his staff, meaning that the real recruiting would begin after the dead period ended and the holidays had past.

Fast forward to today and the Cards, who have almost a full staff, have landed their first commitment of the new year at a position that was a must have for 2019-2020. The commitment came from 3 star offensive lineman, Renato Brown, out of West Palm Beach, Florida.

The 6’4, 280 pound lineman had previously been committed to Miami, but chose to decommit in May of 2018. Brown held offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, South Carolina, among others. Rivals ranks Brown as the 62nd best offensive lineman in the country.

Brown, who is listed on some sites as an offensive guard and some as a defensive tackle, likely will be used as an offensive lineman for Louisville, seeing as how the Cards have just six scholarship OL currently.

Renato Brown joins signee Zach Williamson, a three star out of Huntington, WV as offensive lineman committed to the Cards in 2019. Brown is the sixth member of the Cards 2019 recruiting class and the third to commit to Louisville since Satterfield was announced as head coach.

The Cards are very limited on the offensive line, as mentioned earlier, with just six scholarship players returning in 2019. Mekhi Becton, Cole Bentley, and Caleb Chandler will return as starters in 2019-20, with Robbie Bell, Adonis Boone, and Vanderbilt transfer, Wyatt Smock all competing for snaps as well.

Update: Louisville commit Ty Murray, a three star offensive guard out of Georgia, has announced he has flipped his commitment from UofL to UNC. That leaves the Cards with just five players in the class of 2019.

Next. As rival Clemson keeps winning, Louisville football fans should still be optimistic. dark

Louisville still has plenty of work to do on the recruiting trail with National Signing Day less than a month away. The Cards had several visitors on campus this past weekend, including four star defensive end Quashon Fuller and SMU Grad Transfer QB Ben Hicks.
