Linebacker

Allen Smith (3 Star)- Loganville, GA- 6’3″ / 210 lbs

Louisville has to add some more depth to it’s linebacker unit for 2019 and beyond, and it looks like they can do just that with Smith. He is a true outside linebacker who could be on the depth chart right away for the Cards.

Cort Dennison is Smith’s primary recruiter, and Smith will be in Louisville on January 18th for an official visit.

Chance of commitment: 90%

Drew Fowler (3 Star)- Bellevue, WA- 6’2″ / 210 lbs

Here’s a list of schools vying for Fowler’s services: Stanford, Princeton, Army, Air Force. Fowler is being recruited most heavily by schools with serious reputations for having awesome, tough-nosed linebacker play.

Fowler was a do-everything athlete for his high school football team, and he gets downhill quickly. He is a perfect fit for what Scott Satterfield likes to do defensively.

Chance of commitment: 20%

Eugene Asante (3 Star)- Chantilly, Va- 6’1″ / 215 lbs

Virginia Tech is the favorite for Asante, and TCU, Florida State, and UCLA are in the mix. Louisville is in very late on this guy, but if the Cards can get an official visit from him, stranger things have happened.

Chance of commitment: 5%

TJ Holl (Grad Transfer, Colgate)- 6’1″ / 230 lbs

Holl is Louisville’s “must-get” player of this class. He is an unusual circumstance in that he is a graduate transfer from Colgate. However, the Cards need experience and skill at the linebacker position right away, and Holl brings exactly that.

He recorded 121 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 1 interception in his redshirt junior year in 2018. He was the leader of a Colgate defense that completely shut some teams down late in the year.

If you want to read more about Holl, we wrote about him here.

The Cards are by far the biggest name to offer Holl thus far, and that is totally fine. Louisville would love to have his services in 2019.

Chance of commitment: 50%

Dylan Jordan (3 star)- Pittsburg, KS- 6’3″ / 215 lbs

Jordan is a freak athlete, who is projected a linebacker, but could be used in a lot of different areas in college. Jordan brings a ton of speed off the edge, and carries his weight extremely well.

Jordan visits Auburn, Utah, and Nebraska in the month of January, but he is another guy who Louisville would love to just get on campus, and then maybe they’d have a shot.

Chance of commitment: 5%

Monty Montgomery (2 Star)- Hutchinson C.C.- 5’11” / 220 lbs

A member of the all-name team, Montgomery spent a year at a JUCO school instead of going straight to DI football. Montgomery was projected as a safety out of high school, is utilized as a smaller linebacker currently, but could probably do a little bit of both at the next level.

Montgomery visits Louisville the first week in February.

Chance of commitment: 55%
