News as of late around the Louisville Cardinals is probably most describable as “whatever the opposite of 2018 is.”

Things are looking up for the Louisville Cardinals after a weird 2018. Football recruiting is trending up. Basketball is looking like its old self again and its recruits are burning gyms to the ground.

Both with the bouncy ball and the Arnold-head-shaped one, Cards in the pros are getting some notoriety. If you needed any other signal that Louisville athletics is in a good place but things are still weird – Gorgui Dieng tried to fight Devin Booker last night in the tunnels and then made a hilarious Gorgui joke.

Legends of the city are getting some due respect and major outlets are noticing.

  • If you have ESPN+ this is an interesting article for Cards fans. I’ll go ahead and save you the $4.99 subscription fee and tell you the gist. Jordan Nwora is listed among the Top 60 prospects for the 2020 Draft. Its his first mention as such in any major, national media
  • Scott Satterfield rounded out his staff this week with the hiring a Wide Receivers Coach, who he claims is a guy named Gunter Brewer. We here at Big Red Louie have in fact confirmed it’s just former, beloved WDRB anchorman Barry Bernson, wearing a hat:
  • We see you Barry.
  • The Old Cardinal Stadium is meeting its maker today.
  • VJ doesn’t know about you but he’s feeling 22.

  • Montrezl “Too small to play Power Forward in the league” Harrell moved into the starting lineup for the Clippers this week. No injuries were involved. Trezl just flat out earned it over Marcin Gortat. He then proceeded to keep dunking.
  • Louisville has moved up to #16 in the NCAA Basketball’s NET Rankings. As we astute mathematicians can analyze for you. That does indeed translate to being a 4 seed in Bracketology.
