Louisville basketball roundtable: Midseason review part I
By Jacob Lane
What has been your favorite moment through the first 20 games of the season?
Charlie Thomas (@_CharlieThomas): This one is tough because handing UNC their worst home loss in the Roy Williams era ranks way up there, I have to go with the alley-opp dunk from CC to Nwora against Pitt. Jordan straight killed a Panther and the pass from CC was perfection.
Thomas Grasch (@ThomasGrasch): This may be some recency bias but I cannot get over the no look alley-oop from CC to Nwora in the Pitt game. The setup, the delivery, every part of it was spectacular. It was at home so that gives it some added juice. Nwora skied high to through it down and CC pointed in the air and Pitt never saw it coming. I’ve watched the clip more times than I would like to admit.
Jacob Lane (@JacobLane_BRL): Being a prisoner of the moment would lead me to say the Jordan Nwora alley oop, but I’m going to say it was the Michigan State victory earlier in the season. That was a game that I marked as an automatic loss on the schedule going into the season due to the firepower of the #10 Spartans. But Louisville played arguably one of their best games of the season and the momentum it helped them pick up was huge. Plus, who doesn’t love a Chris Mack shimmy?
Ethan Sprowles (@EthanSprowles): Man, this is a tough one (and finally for a good reason). This season has been one of the most fun seasons in recent memory and I think most fans will agree. I think CC’s no-look alley oop to Nwora was pretty special. The Yum got as loud as I have ever heard it. While everybody was obviously excited about the play, that play alone made it game over and I think everybody was just so excited to see Louisville basketball rolling again.
Ross Prophater (@RossPro): Man! That win vs North Carolina State last Thursday night was fun, but I have to say my most favorite moment this season thus far was the overtime win vs. Michigan St. The Spartans went on a winning streak from that point on in November that didn’t end until this past week. The win over the Spartans was a great win and one that will pay dividends for the Cards come Selection Sunday.
Madison Wood (@Tostadamadz): My favorite moment has to be the Michigan State win. That’s the first big win of the Chris Mack era – and that moment, you could feel just how special it was to Coach, this team, and the fans. As far as these players though, I think that win was when they really started to believe that as long as they play tough and together, and follow Coach Mack, that they can compete with ANYONE. That’s a great feeling, and winning along the way is pretty awesome too.
Tanner Hickman (@KodakNap): I‘m a sucker for the Jordan Nwora MVP games. The 20-point-halves by him have been a personal favorite of mine because they remind me so much of watching Donovan Mitchell’s sophomore year. There are some moves I see him make, like his step back threes, (smoothest move in the NBA by the way) that I just say, “wow, that’s next level” and I said the same thing watching Mitchell.
