Louisville basketball: Cards look to sweep UNC in Ali themed uniforms
By Andy Harrell
Louisville is 7-5 all time in white-out games and has knocked off ranked opponents in four of those seven wins.
Saturday will be a “white-out” game for the Cardinals and I don’t think I’ve seen fans or players more excited about the jerseys or the impending environment. The University is attempting to provide even more of a home court advantage than usual with this winter wonderland affair against UNC. Fans are encouraged to match the players, coaches and staff in wearing all white.
Under Chris Mack Louisville is 13-1 at home overall and 4-0 in conference play. To say that the Cards have a home court advantage on the whole would be a disservice. Louisville is on the near side of unbeatable in front of their home crowd.
Saturday’s environment is sure to be one of the most raucous the city has seen in some time. A true home game against a top 10 opponent on a Saturday would be reason enough but the fighting spirit of these epic Ali themed jerseys will put the atmosphere over the edge.
This game will certainly help the university’s image and bring back a sense of normalcy to its ardent supporters. Our team over the last few seasons had lost its magic in many people’s hearts and there is a significant opportunity here to move on from that. I would expect nothing less than the loudest environment the YUM has ever heard.
The home court advantage should be visible and palpable in the air.
Go Cards!
