Louisville football recruits to watch on National Signing Day
By Jacob Lane
Dequan Watts – CB
3-star
6’2, 171
Atlanta, GA
Dequan Watts is another solid defensive player that the Cards jumped into the recruitment of late in the process after he decommitted from Central Florida. A former teammate of current Louisville running back Hassan Hall, Watts has familiarity (at least a bit I’d imagine) with the program, which easily could’ve played a role in him scheduling a visit this past weekend.
Everything I’ve seen leads me to believe that Watts won’t pick Louisville, nor really consider the Cards, when he makes his selection on signing day but he is a player that the staff has had a lot of interest in.
I’ve said it a few times already, but crazy things happen on signing day when players start committing and coaching staffs make changes in plans because of it.
Watts likely ends up elsewhere, but again – worth keeping an eye on.
Other schools being considered: South Carolina, Central Florida, Ole Miss
Prediction: South Carolina

Signing Day is one of the most notorious and important days for college football programs across the country, but for a program like Louisville – it may be the biggest day of the year.
Louisville desperately needs to fill holes across several positions due to the poor recruiting and roster management of the previous staff. While there is a lot of talent on the board for the Cardinal staff, the biggest piece in all of this will be finding the right guys who can come into the program and help to rebuild a broken culture.
With an emphasis on doing just that, Scott Satterfield and his staff have my 100% trust when it comes to talent evaluation. The Cards may not land the biggest and best names available, but what they will do is find players that they can develop to be great in their system.
My advice to you Cardnation is this… Don’t get caught up in rankings, individual nor team. The staff has been behind the eight ball all along, and with limited scholarships available and a horribly mismanaged roster, the importance has been on fit not on overall talent.
I believe that in two, three, four years we will look back on this day as the beginning of a special run and development of a new era for Louisville football.
Go Cards!
