Charles Gaines – CB

Since leaving for the NFL, I don’t know if there’s been someone as brilliant at talking trash and destroying opposing wide receivers than Charles Gaines (Jaire Alexander is close). After a brillant career as the #1 corner for the Cards, which included 7 INT’s, 1 TD, and being named an All-First Team AAC defender, Gaines declared early for the NFL and was drafted in the 6th round of the 2015 Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

Gaines played in six games as a Cleveland Brown, starting in four games, and totaled 15 tackles and 1 forced fumble, before the team pulled the plug. Gaines bounced around the league spending time with the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars but never played in the NFL game.

Joining the same list as Holliman and Copeland, it seems that Gaines is currently unemployed and could definitely be a type of player that could make a solid earning in the AAF (or maybe even the XFL next year). Gaines swagger and knack for making a big play at the right time was so much fun to watch during his three year career at Louisville and I would love to see him back on a football field again.
