Chris Mack and Louisville basketball will host a five star guard in the class of 2020 this weekend against Virginia.

Chris Mack is set to have his hands full this weekend when Louisville basketball gets a visit from Virginia for the first time this season. While all the attention will be on the game, as it should be, the stakes just got a little higher for the future of the program.

Evan Daniels of 247 Sports reported this morning that 2020 five star guard Nimari Burnett will be on an unofficial visit to the University of Louisville for their matchup with Virginia, a game that is sure to have one of the best crowds of the season.

After having Assistant Coach Luke Murray hit the road to watch Burnett in January, Mack wanted a closer look. Playing against arguably one of the most notorious recruits LaMelo Ball and SPIRE Academy, one of the best teams in the country, Mack watched Burnett for the first time and apparently liked what he saw, extending him a scholarship offer.

Ranked as the 25th best player in the class of 2020 and the 3rd best combo guard by 247 Sports, Burnett is a big, physical guard who has the potential to be a star at the next level due to his versatility on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

According to Jake Weingarten of StockRisers.com, Burnett has been hearing from Illinois, Marquette, Arizona, Louisville, Indiana, USC, and Ohio State the most. When talking about Louisville he told Weingarten:

"“(Louisville) Loves my game and they express how much they want me to be apart of their school and their rich history.”"

Even with top 100 guards David Johnson and Josh Nickelberry coming in next season, Louisville will have a need at the guard position heading into 2020-21, as Ryan McMahon will be out of eligibility, while Darius Perry will be heading into his senior season.

Last month our own Stephen Kalayli wrote about the class of 2020 and who exactly Chris Mack was targeting for his second group at Louisville, and wrote about Burnett’s game and what he would bring to the Cards. He said:

"“He (Burnett) possesses great range from 3 point land and, and can score at all three levels. Burnett has shown great ball handling skills and excellent court vision. He’s a player that could play either guard spot and would be very hard to keep off the court despite veterans Darius Perry, Nickelberry and Johnson.”"

The class of 2020 is still taking shape and in the game of recruiting things are always changing as players games develop and more schools become interested. Getting Burnett on campus so early in his recruitment is a big step and hopefully it will result in the five star guard becoming a Cardinal.
