Louisville basketball is a team that could be primed for a deep NCAA tournament run. However, these five match-ups could spell trouble for the Cards in the first weekend.

It’s almost that time of year again, Louisville basketball fans.

Winter is coming to an end, derby time is just around the corner, and pretty soon your allergies will be giving you absolute hell. But most importantly, it’s almost March madness time. That means everyone around you discussing what seed your squad should get, and there’s a 99% chance that the entire fanbase will be up in arms about drawing “the region of death.”

This year is a bit different for Louisville fans though. Because although the Cards have a solid resume loaded with quadrant 1 and 2 wins, they are stumbling down the stretch. It’s hard to tell exactly how much the selection committee will take into account Louisville’s late season woes, however, one can surmise that they are likely to draw somewhere between a 5 and 10 seed.

This means that Louisville is likely to face some tricky opponents in the first weekend hoping to spring an upset, or possibly fighting for a spot in the sweet 16.

Louisville is built for a run, but if they meet one of these five teams, the road to the second weekend might be very challenging.
