There is no question that at this point in time, North Carolina is playing the best in the ACC. That doesn’t mean they are the best, but they are currently the top in the conference after huge wins against two of the top five teams – Duke & Florida State.

In my opinion there is no one in the country playing better than the Tar Heels, and if you need proof of that just look at how they completely dismantled Duke for 40 minutes and destroyed FSU in the second half.

Seniors Cameron Johnson and Luke Maye, who are averaging a combined 31 points and nearly 15 rebounds per game, have led the way for the Tar Heels for most of the season, but over the last 12 games or so there’s no denying that the x-factor has been Coby White.

If White continues to play the way he has, and the Heels get the usual production out of Cam Johnson & Luke Maye, their big three is good enough to play with anyone in the country, including Duke.

With two weeks left in conference play, which begins tonight, there is still plenty of time for things to be shaken up at the top of the ACC between UNC, UVA and Duke. Any of three teams could win the conference and it would come as a surprise to no one.

Next. Stats don’t lie, one of these six teams will win the national championship. dark

Just like the top of the ACC, the next five to six spots could go in a number of ways as Florida State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, NC State, and Louisville all remain in contention for the fourth seed and the chance at a double bye in the ACC.

For Louisville winning the next two games is beyond crucial, as they will have back-to-back matchups with teams in the bottom half of the ACC in Boston College & Notre Dame before a huge rematch with Virginia. Getting a top four seed would be nice but just maintaining a hold on a spot in the 5-8 range is more of what the Cards should be aiming for.
