(5) Mississippi State vs (4) Virginia Tech

Liberty over Mississippi State is going to be a trendy 5-12 upset pick- but it shouldn’t be. The flames are more likely to flame out against a much more athletic Bulldogs team, who is coming off of a solid season in an all-time great SEC.

State would likely face Virginia Tech, an opponent that is much like the “Spiderman pointing” meme. These two schools both pose the same challenges for each other, with solid, long guard play and a do-it-all big man.

Mississippi State is a tremendous shooting team, and is led by Quinndary Witherspoon, who is a tremendously talented senior that may remind one of a rangy Victor Oladipo. The Bulldogs’s tenacity on the boards could potentially give Virginia Tech big man Kerry Blackshear Jr. lots of problems inside.

This game would be a tremendous amount of fun to watch, as both teams get after it defensively and in transition, and each squad can be a terror from deep.
