Louisville basketball: Looking at potential roster turnover for 2019-20
By Jacob Lane
Now that the 2019 season has to come to an end for Louisville basketball, it’s time to look at the roster and where there could be some turnover heading into next year.
It’s hard to believe it, but just like that the season for Louisville basketball’s Team 105 has come and gone. There were so many ups and so many downs in what was an overachieving season for new Louisville head coach Chris Mack and his roster that essentially was glued together for the 2018-2019 season.
Mack was left with just seven scholarship players after both Ray Spalding and Deng Adel hightailed for the 2018 NBA Draft and freshman forward Lance Thomas transferred to Memphis. The new head coach was left with just a few months to try and find three (up to five) scholarship players, ultimately bringing together three transfers, all from outside of the power five.
Heading into the 2019-20 season the Cards will lose those three players, Christen Cunningham, Khwan Fore, and Akoy Agau, while also regaining three scholarships that were left open to fill the punishment left by the NCAA for Louisville.
With the number seven ranked recruiting class in the country according to 247 Sports, that includes six(!!) members, the Cards will have several new faces next season as well as plenty of returning talent from a team that won 20 games.
However, there are still a lot of questions about the roster and where there could be some turnover. Let’s take a look at four players who I believe could have some difficult decisions to make over the coming weeks regarding their future’s at the University of Louisville.
Here we go.
