Louisville basketball sophomore Jordan Nwora, as expected, will test NBA waters, but will not hire an agent.

As the season begins to wind down, and Louisville basketball transitions into 2019-2020, the Cards may have more question marks than answers.

There is a lot of uncertainty and speculation surrounding Louisville regarding who will stay for next season and who will return. Although we are still a while away from knowing what players will ultimately make up the roster, one more piece fell into to place today when Jordan Nwora announced he’d be testing the NBA draft waters.

Nwora, a Sophomore forward from Buffalo, New York, is coming off of an outstanding season. He won the ACC Most Improved Player of the Year after averaging 17 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

The Cards’s leading scorer announced via Instagram that he would be trying to get some feedback from NBA scouts in order to further understand what his potential would be like, were he to enter the NBA draft.

According to the current rules, Nwora may enter his name into the pool and hire an agent but still maintain his eligibility as a student athlete at Louisville. He will have until May 29th- 10 days after the NBA combine- to decide weather or not to remain in the draft or return to UofL.

If you’re a Cards fan, plan on Nwora using the next 8-9 weeks to go through the process and get feedback from a ton of NBA teams and scouts.

For now, anticipate a lot more uncertainty around the Louisville roster this coming season. The Cards know they will get six new Freshmen for sure, and most of the remaining roster is likely to remain in tact outside of 3 departing graduate transfers.

However, Chris Mack was a new coach this season and some players may see the writing on the wall and opt to depart for the promise of better playing time. Stephen Enoch. Dwayne Sutton, and Ryan McMahon are three players who have been in school for four years and could be eligible to play graduate transfer seasons. Darius Perry could opt to go somewhere closer to home if he sees a potential for less playing time next season.

Nwora, for now, will be the most important player to keep an eye on. If everyone stays put, the Cards may be completely set for next season. But if Nwora chooses to move on with his career, Louisville could be a completely different team going forward.
