We rank each position group for Coach Scott Satterfield and Louisville football and determine where the strength and weaknesses lie.
There’s been a lot going on around the Louisville football program since November 24th, 2018 when the Cards were destroyed on their home field by arch-nemesis Kentucky, finishing their down spiral of season at 2-10, the worst record since going 1-10 in 1997.
Since then there’s been a new head coach announced, a new culture promise, a brand new staff, a new recruiting class featuring 14 high school signees and three graduate transfers, new spring football traditions established, and of course the highly talked about roster changes including 13 scholarship players transferring to other schools.
Heading into summer workouts and post-spring football for most of the other programs across the country, Louisville will have upwards of 6-10 scholarships to use on graduate transfers or traditional sit out transfers to provide depth where it is currently lacking on the roster or in preparation of the 2020-2021 season and beyond shall they choose to. But for now the roster stands as is.
As the roster currently is situated Louisville has some positions where they are set and ready to go, especially once the 2019 class arrives on campus, and others where the staff still has work to do in order to provide depth and help the current players on the roster take a step forward on the field.
Let’s take a look at each position group (as it currently stands) and see where there are strengths and where there are weaknesses as well as rank them from worst to best.
