7. Defensive line

Returnees: GG Robinson (R-Sr.), Jarrett Jackson (So.), Jared Goldwire (Jr.), Amonte Caban (R-Sr.), Derek Dorsey (Jr.), Tabarius Peterson (Jr.), Dejmi Dumervil-Jean (So.), Caleb Tillman (R-Jr.), Malik Clark (R-So.), Thurman Geathers (R-Fr.)

Newcomers: Ja’Darien Boykin (Fr.)

Not returning: Jonathan Greenard (R-Sr.), Allen Love (So.), Mike Boykin (Jr.), Robert Hicks (So.),

Projected starters: Tabarius Peterson (DE), GG Robinson (DT/NT), Amonte Caban (DE)

Player to watch: Jarrett Jackson

No position group has been affected more by transfers (in terms of numbers) than the defensive line. While losing Jonathan Greenard came as no surprise, it still hurt, and once again heading into 2019-20 there will be a lot of questions to be answered about this  groups ability to rush the QB.

Even with that being said, I expect the defensive line to take a big step forward from the coaching of Mark Ivey, who has been one of the top mid-major coaches in the country. The switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 should also help this group as there are several players who I believe have been playing out of position.

The three expected** started for Louisville will have quite a bit of experience to them, including two redshirt seniors and a junior. There’s speed, power, and experience which should all help the Cards improve from their 11 sacks in 2018 that ranked 125th nationally.
