6. Offensive line

Returnees: Mekhi Becton (Jr.), Cole Bentley (Jr.), Robbie Bell (R-Jr.), Caleb Chandler (R-So.), Ronald Rudd (R-Sr.), Adonis Boone (So.)

Newcomers: Zach Williamson (Fr.), Renato Brown (Fr.), Joshua Black (Fr.), Jackson Gregory (Fr.), T.J. McCoy (Graduate Transfer, Florida)

Not returning: Wyatt Smock (R-Fr.)

Projected starters: Mekhi Becton, Cole Bentley, T.J. McCoy, Caleb Chandler, Ronald Rudd

Player to watch: Mekhi Becton

From being one of the worst at creating sacks, to being one of the worst at preventing sacks, the offensive line is another unit that will be looking to improve from their horrendous showing in 2018.

Thankfully, Scott Satterfield was able to bring in offensive line guru Dwayne Ledford, who’s NC State o-line has been one of the best in college football over the last few years. Ledford takes over a group that has the pieces to be a talented group, especially in junior’s Mekhi Becton and Cole Bentley.

Depth and experience will be an issue as the Cards have just five lineman who have started games at the D1 level, but there is a lot of potential for guys like Caleb Chandler, Adonis Boone, and even Renato Brown to show what they can do.

The one linchpin will be T.J. McCoy, a graduate transfer from Florida, who should start from day one at the center position, bringing experience and skill to the Cardinal line.

One thing is for certain, after a terrible season in 2018, there’s only one way to go from here and that’s up.

Position Grade: B-
