James “Beetle” Bolden

6’0,” 160 lbs

Current school: West Virginia

2018-19 (18 games): 12.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists

Maybe the name that most haven’t heard of that could generate a ton of buzz going into next season is James “Beetle” Bolden. Beetle is aptly named because he is “small and strong.” Born as a premature baby, he was given only a few weeks to live.

Don’t worry about Bolden being small at this point in his career. He can bang with the best of them, and is an elite level talent. Injuries held him out of a train wreck of a year for Bob Huggins and the West Virginia Mountaineers, but when healthy Bolden can play.

Though Bolden is a score-first guard, he could certainly contribute as a combo guard for the Cards. He would definitely bring insane on-ball defense and the ability to get in the lane, create his own shot and create for others.

Bolden seems like the most likely player at this point to play for the Cards in 2019-20. Though there has been no official word or “sources” linking him to Louisville, Bolden has a direct connection to the Cards in strength coach Andy Kettler, who was a long-time coach at West Virginia. He also calls Covington, Kentucky home, and would be a short drive away from his home town.

Be on the look out for Bolden to take a visit at some point to Louisville who, if they want Bolden, should be able to make his short list.
