We are still four and a half months away from Louisville football getting the 2019-20 season underway, but it’s never too early to look at potential breakout players.
There are still 137 days until Louisville football and head coach Scott Satterfield kick off a new era in their season opener at Cardinal Stadium against likely top five ranked Notre Dame, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t start previewing potential break out players.
One of the things you might have heard from media and fellow Cardinal fans this past winter and spring after Scott Satterfield took over for Bobby Petrino as the new Louisville football coach, is that there “isn’t much talent left on the current roster.”
While the Cards have had more than 10 players transfer away this spring, making a huge dent to the depth chart, there is still plenty of talent on the roster – on both sides of the ball.
We’re all familar with names like Hassan Hall, Dez Fitzpatrick, Jawon Pass, Malik Cunningham, Tutu Atwell, Dorian Etheridge, Russ Yeast among others, but I’d be willing to bet there are five or so more players who are going to step into a new scheme, in new roles that will thrive for Scott Satterfield and company that you’ve either never heard about or know little about in general.
The good news is that’s what we’re here for. There are a handful of players who I believe are destined to become quality starters and reserves for Louisville football that you should be familar with.
I could probably name 10, if not more, but for today let’s start with five players that you need to know for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
