There were a lot of unknowns for the 2018-2019 Louisville basketball team, yet player expectations for Cardinals fans were high. Though his expectations were high, was Darius Perry’s sophomore season a slump?
Under the new leadership of Louisville basketball‘s first year Head Coach Chris Mack, there was a lot of excitement.
But, while some hype is great, that usually comes with an inherent amount of expectations. In 2018-19, those expectations were mainly placed on a core group of returning players of Jordan Nwora, Malik Williams, VJ King, Ryan McMahon and Darius Perry.
Some players thrived under their first year of Chris Mack and staff. Some started hot to only taper off at the end of the year. Some had a rough adjustment and found their legs near season’s end.
Others showed promise early, then struggled much of the season, until season’s end. The latter is probably the best way to describe Darius Perry‘s sophomore season.
We’ll dive in further and reflect upon Darius’ season and what’s next, but we like to end things on a good note. So, let’s get right into it and discuss the negatives first.
