Louisville football may have landed their quarterback of the future when 2020 three-star Tee Webb pledged to the Cards.

Before the program even got commitments from players like Lamar Jackson and Jaire Alexander, Louisville football offered a 7th grader.

Though it seemed like an odd tactic at the time, then Louisville offensive coordinator Garrick McGee planted a seed in Tee Webb’s head that kept the Cartersville, Georgia prospect interested.

On Thursday persistence paid off when Webb, a three-star class of 2020 quarterback, officially pledged to Scott Satterfield and the Cards.

Remember when “Scott’s Tots” ultimately fell through after Michael Scott pledged college tuition to young children? Well, this version of Scott’s Tots is the new and improved strategy.

This time, however, Scott Satterfield the first year head man for the Cards honored his school’s promise to pay college tuition in exchange for the services of an elite-level quarterback.

Five years after being offered first by Louisville, Webb is a 6’4,” 185-pound gunslinger ready to hone his abilities during his senior year at Cartersville high. And, yes, if you recognize that name it is in fact where former No. 1 overall recruit and defending national champion Trevor Lawrence cut his teeth.

Webb waited in the wings for two years while Lawrence set the high school football world on fire. And it appears that he learned a thing or two.

The three-star recruit ranks as the nation’s 26th best pro-style quarterback and chose the Cards over other distinguished power five schools including Miami, Kansas State, Syracuse, and Georgia Tech.

In 2018, Webb threw for 2,786 yards and 35 touchdowns and took four more to the house on the ground while leading his team to a 14-1 record.

Like Lawrence, Webb is not a super bulky guy, but he has an above average arm and utilized excellent timing. Webb demonstrates the ability to dissect defenses calmly and make all of the throws necessary. He has a beautiful touch over the top and showed time after time that he can throw a receiver open.

Maybe most importantly for Scott Satterfield’s offense is that Webb is an all-around good athlete. He is a smooth, polished runner with surprising break away sweet and agility. He can make a ton of throws, but escaping and throwing on the run is a crucial skill set in the new Louisville offense.

Webb will add depth to the Louisville football roster in 2020, but don’t let the modest rankings fool you- he’s the real deal.
