Mekhi Becton – OT

Junior

There aren’t many tackles in college football with the size profile of Louisville football left tackle Mekhi Becton. There also aren’t many offensive linemen in the NFL with the size of Becton, which is exactly why he’s number on our list of most likely NFL prospects on the Louisville roster.

Becton stands at 6’7″ weighing in at 355 pounds giving him beyond ideal size for an NFL offensive lineman. He’s started in over 20 games during his time as a Cardinal, playing both right tackle and left tackle, showing serious versatility.

But what will likely be more intriguing to NFL coaches and scouts is his athleticism, which has made him a special talent for Louisville. With the leadership and coaching of Dwayne Ledford, who has shown the ability to coach up talented lineman and put them into the NFL, a la Garrett Bradbury.

Becton isn’t the fastest, but with his size and power he easily makes up for it. He’ll need to continue developing and learning how to protect the QB, something that was an issue at times last season. But it wouldn’t be shocking to see him leave after the 2019-20 season for the NFL a year early.
