David Johnson – PG/SG

Player comparison: Alvin Sims

David Johnson is a 6’5″ combo guard out of Louisville Trinity, and he draws a comparison to another local guy in Alvin Sims from Paris, Kentucky.

Like Sims, Johnson is a long, tough, versatile guard who knows how to use his frame to his advantage.

Unlike Sims, however, Johnson has a really solid shot. While Sims was known as a high-flying dunker who wanted to get to the bucket, Johnson has adapted a bit more to modern times and has become a reliable outside shooter.

Johnson may fit best at the point guard spot for Louisville basketball this season. However, he has a huge frame for a guard. Just like many others in his class, Johnson can be utilized in a number of ways in Chris Mack’s system.

Johnson is a kid who is going to get a chance to have the ball in his hands a lot and like Sims, he is going to be an aggressor and a punisher, especially against over-matched, smaller guards.
