If Louisville football targets graduate transfers, who might they be?

Louisville football has some serious holes on their roster heading into the 2019-2020 season that graduate transfers could easily fill. If the Cards were to pursue that option here’s who they may target.

We’ve been hearing about the potential of Louisville football adding players to their 2019-2020 via the transfer portal for quite some time now, without much action.

Since National Signing Day, where the Cards landed graduate transfer offensive lineman, T.J. McCoy of Florida and Ean Pfeifer of Vanderbilt (who will play tight end at Louisville, as of now), only one other player has committed to the Cards, that being T.J. Holl a former Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year.

Now that the 2019 spring semester is over at most campuses as is Spring Practice, we have some movement in the transfer portal for the first time since the conclusion of signing day. Players either want to spend their final year of eligibility earning their Master’s degree elsewhere, or see the writing on the wall that their playing time could be on the way down are looking for a fresh start – which could both be a huge benefit to a program like Louisville.

We all know about the 12-plus transfers that have taken place since Scott Satterfield and the Cards wrapped up spring camp, leaving several positions vulnerable depth wise heading into the 2019-20 season. While I have hammered home the notion that Louisville still has plenty of talent left across the board, there is no doubt that depth is a huge concern for the Cards.

While there really are slim pickings left in the transfer portal, there still is plenty of talent available for the Cards to pursue. Here are some names that we believe would be good fits for Louisville if Satterfield and company decided to use some of their remaining scholarships for next season.
