Could the coaching experience of Scott Satterfield’s new staff be the key piece to a surprising turnaround and potential bowl eligibility in his first season as Louisville football’s head coach?
For the last 165 days, fans of Louisville football have seen the numerous positive comments surrounding new head coach Scott Satterfield. Praised by current players, former players, and staff alike, we have heard things like ‘new vibe’ – ‘culture change’ – ‘Family atmosphere’ – ‘effort and attitude’. These things will undoubtedly make some type of difference going into next season – regardless of the mitigated expectations after a 2-10 season.
The bar is low.
However many positive accolades Satterfield has already collected within his first offseason, there is still a significant, season-changing factor that I believe many Louisville fans still haven’t grasped completely. A factor that even alluded Petrino in his final years as Louisville’s head coach.

Beyond the fact that we have already seen unprecedented transparency, access, and engaging content from the new staff compared to the former regime – have Louisville fans given thought to the overall talent and experience this staff has compared to Bobby’s?
