Renato Brown – OG

Three-star | No. 50 OG

If you want to talk about a name that could make an instant impact that hardly any Cards fan knows about, it’s Renato Brown.

Brown is a 6’4,” 310-pound offensive guard from West Palm Beach, Florida. He is a transplant from Jamaica who came up around some of the best teams in a college football hotbed.

In high school, he continued to grow into a high-level Division I player while maintaining solid mobility, a la current Card Mekhi Becton.

He was initially committed to hometown Miami and had named like Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Penn State after him. When Mark Richt left Miami, Brown reopened his recruitment and said he just felt at home with Satterfield and offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford at Louisville.

As Ledford said, Brown has a real chance to hold his own right away for a Louisville football team in desperate need of depth in the trenches.

Brown shows the ability to be a pulling guard who can get downhill in a hurry. The Cards are going to want to run the ball a lot under Satterfield, and Brown is exactly the type of guy you need up front to pound the rock.

Louisville is pretty set with most of their offensive line first-teamers for 2019, but Brown could provide key depth and competition during his freshman year.
