Jamel Starks – CB

Three-star | No. 47 ATH

An underrated prospect from a high school football hotbed who had a ton of power five offers. Sound familiar? Get used to it under the new Louisville staff.

Jamel Starks is yet another diamond in the rough who the coaches love.

Starks has 4.4, 4.5 speed, and can be utilized in a number of ways. He is rated as the No. 47 athlete, but he is most likely to be seen most at corner or safety.

Starks is yet another player who says he committed to the new staff because he loved the family atmosphere. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and looks primed to come in and be another awesome “locker room guy” off the field.

On the field, Starks could be among one of the deepest position groups for the Cards. However, he could be a good enough athlete that the coaching staff finds a way to get him on the field whether that’s on special teams or other areas.

It’s refreshing to see the staff go after guys that are perfect fits in their system, and Starks is just another guy who could be a big-time asset sooner rather than later.

***UPDATE (8/4)*** Scott Satterfield announced in his first press conference before fall camp that freshmen Ja’Darien Boykin and Jamel Starks did not qualify and will not play for Louisville this season.
