Caleb Love, PG

National ranking: 31

Position ranking: 5

Saint Louis, MO, 6’3″ 170 pounds

There’s no denying that the most dynamic player on the board for Louisville basketball right now is point guard Caleb Love. The 6’3 four-star guard out of Saint Louis, MO may, in fact, be one of the hottest names on the entire recruiting trail, having recently received interest from blue blood programs like Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Louisville.

Louisville, however, has been on Love now for quite some time, extending a scholarship offer during an official visit back in August of 2018.

Since then Love has visited Floyd Street again and met with the Louisville coaching staff, showing that there is mutual interest between the two parties.

What Love brings to the table is exactly what was missing from Chris Mack’s first Louisville basketball team in 2018-2019. A dynamic point-guard who has the ability to break down a defense by attacking the basket and getting into the paint where his elite level vision allows him to get his teammates involved at a high level.

The Cards are all in and landing a player like Love would be a huge boost to the recruiting prowess of Chris Mack. But for him to do so he’ll have to beat out the likes of Duke, Kentucky, and North Carolina for the first time since taking over the Louisville job.

There’s no doubt that Mack has the personality to land a player like Love, but for a guy with one-and-done talent and aspirations, he’ll probably need to show quick results with freshmen like Josh Nickelberry and Samuell Williamson come the 2019 season.
