3. David Johnson

To some, David Johnson getting the nod over Aidan Igiehon at the number three spot might come as a surprise. But to those people I’ll say, it shouldn’t. That has more to do with the need for the skills of Johnson on the 2019-2020 roster than it is about anything.

Johnson comes in as possibly the most polished prospect for Louisville, excelling in areas where help is needed help right away. His athleticism, playmaking, court vision, passing, ability to use his size at 6’5, and most importantly his poise, will be a huge help to a Cardinals offense that lacks a true “point guard,” whose role is to get the ball to others first.

Even with Fresh Kimble (who we’ll get to momentarily), Ryan McMahon, and Darius Perry, all of whom are veteran tested guards, on the roster – I fully expect to see Johnson get 12-15 minutes each night during the 2019-20 season. With scorers like Kimble, McMahon, Williamson, Enoch and Nwora (possibly) around him, Johnson could become the team’s leader in assists as a freshman.
