Louisville basketball: Ranking the incoming players impact in 2019-20
1. Samuell Williamson
There should be no surprise with Samuell Williamson being at the top of the list here. As Louisville’s highest-rated recruit since 2008, the McDonald’s All-American is expected to be a starter and go-to scorer from the day he steps foot on campus.
With his size, 6’6, 180 pounds, athleticism, and ability to score from literally anywhere on the floor, Williamson will demand the attention of the best college basketball defenders at all times.
The extent at which Williamson will be relied upon to score will be based on the final decision of Louisville wing Jordan Nwora and whether or not he decides to return to campus for his junior season.
If he does, Williamson will be a secondary scorer, a role in which he will absolutely thrive in, as defenses will be primarily focused on stopping Nwora from getting going outside and making plays off the ball.
If Nwora does decide to stay in the 2019 NBA Draft, Williamson will be relied upon to be the Cards leading scorer from day one – something he’ll undoubtedly have no problem doing.
With or without Nwora, the Cards will be a team capable of scoring at a high mark, and a big chunk of that will be because of the play of incoming freshman Samuell Williamson.
