Cameron Johnson – North Carolina

If you’re looking for Jordan Nwora’s “biggest competition” in the NBA Draft, my money would be on Cam Johnson.

Johnson is a player that most Cards fans will be familiar with because he played three years at Pitt before having big-time breakout years for North Carolina the last two seasons.

If you are looking for a name that isn’t super high on any big boards but could do some serious damage once he gets to the league, the conversation has to start with Johnson. The 6’9,” 210-pound forward has the total package. He is a great do-it-all scorer, solid rebounder, and improving passer. His 3-point percentage has improved dramatically in his time at UNC, and he made nearly 46 percent of his shots from deep in 2018-19.

Johnson is a guy who’s been around the block, which is the only reason he isn’t projected higher. NBA execs love to draft based on talent and projections more than what they already know. But Johnson is a sure thing to be an instant-impact player on any squad in the league.

If it weren’t for his age, one could see Johnson being a top-10 pick. And Nwora is going to have to stand out from the crowd against a player of his caliber.
