As a 4-star, top five inside linebacker coming out of high school in 2017 – Hicks chose Louisville over major programs such as Auburn, Michigan State, Oregon, and Tennessee among others.

Although he was a contributor in nine games last season, Hicks was close to suiting up for another program this upcoming season. Incoming defensive coordinator Bryan Brown wanted to move Hicks to the defensive end position, utilizing him as an effective edge rusher.

This didn’t sit well with Hicks, as he entered his name into the transfer portal.

Thankfully, Coach Brown understood that high-level defensive talent is currently at a premium on the roster, and was able to convince Hicks to stay by returning him to the linebacker position.

In conjunction with Coach Browns speedy 3-4 defensive scheme, at 6-1 250 – Hicks’ is primed to make an instant impact on Louisville’s defense this season.
