We’ll lay it all out there as we rank the best Louisville basketball teams since the 2007-2008 campaign.

It goes without saying that the greatest Louisville basketball team in the last dozen years is (not arguably) the 2012-2013 title-winning squad. But the fate of the rest ranges from cascading disappointments to unprecedented overachievements to a colossal bag of what if’s.

Some teams just came out flat in the tournament. Some didn’t get to dance at all. But some had all the fixins with a side of title contender swag. Though I admit a few of my choices here may be unpopular, I think we can all agree this is an entertaining conversation to be had.

Take into account some of the moments in each season. Throughout this countdown, I will give each season a tagline in quotations to allow you as the reader to isolate that season in your mind and put each into perspective as a fan, if you haven’t already. It will also give you the opportunity to celebrate each season for what it was in our prestigious history.

So here it is, the countdown of the past 12 Louisville basketball seasons, ranked lowest to highest. Keep in mind that our ranking system is not meant to be taken as encyclopedic information. It’s meant for the fans like you and me to debate. If everyone that gives this article a readthrough agrees with my rankings here, then I haven’t done my job. Enjoy!
