Boosie Whitlow – EDGE/DE

Boosie Whitlow was a huge get for the Louisville football program a few years back when he announced his commitment after transferring from South Carolina. A former four-star prospect out of high school, Whitlow was expected to bring speed and athleticism to the Cardinal front seven.

Then Brian VanGorder happened.

For whatever reason, Bobby Petrino and the aforementioned BVG didn’t see Whitlow as someone who could provide much value to the Louisville defense during the 2018 season. Even when star defensive end Jon Greenard went down with a season-ending wrist injury and playing time was available, the defensive staff still didn’t go to one of their most talented players. A full season of eligibility wasted with only four tackles to show for it.

I expect that to change big time in 2019.

Whitlow has the size and talent to break out for the Cardinals as a senior. He has legitimate experience, starting all 12 games of his sophomore year at South Carolina, and was a consistent threat in opponents backfields.

Alongside fellow seniors G.G. Robinson and Amonte Caban, Whitlow will be counted on heavily to help the defensive line and sack rate improve this season.

Louisville’s front seven is lacking in depth, and Whitlow could have the chance to wow the new staff and finally get his chance in 2019. Don’t be surprised to see a break-out season from the senior.
