at Wake Forest

Week 7: October 12th

Wake Forest has had Louisville’s number over the last few years, scoring a combined 98 points in two games behind career-best performances from wide receiver Greg Dortch and running back and former Louisville commit Matt Colburn.

Luckily for Louisville and Cardinals fans, both have departed Winston-Salem, and the Demon Deacons will be starting what looks to be a rebuilding season in 2019. Dave Clawson employed a two-quarterback system in 2018 after expected starter Kendall Hinton was suspended and then moved to receiver, and both guys – Sam Hartman and Jamie Newman – will be back.

A year ago, Wake Forest was a team that relied on their offense and when it wasn’t there they struggled to win. With several of their top weapons not returning in ’19 coupled with a defense that really struggled last season (ACC’s second-worst total defensive team) the Demon Deacons will be the most beatable team in the ACC.

If you asked me today, I’d say this will be the Cards first true road win of the Scott Satterfield era.
