Louisville football secured their fifth commitment in the last 10 days, this time from a JUCO cornerback who is eligible to play right away.

Louisville football recruiting shows no time of slowing down anytime soon.

After securing four commitments over the last seven days, the Cards landed another commitment late this afternoon.

This time, it came in the class of 2019, from junior college cornerback Justin Ford.

The three-star cornerback from Golden West College chose Louisville over Auburn, Utah, West Virginia, Iowa State and Colorado. 247 rates Ford as the 21st cornerback at the JUCO level in the class of 2019.

The commitment was announced via video retweeted by Ford on Twitter and later confirmed by Cardinal Authority’s Jody Demling.

Ford initially enrolled at Kansas in 2018 before deciding to go the JUCO route, enrolling at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California. There, he has showcased an unreal knack for the ball and solid ability to shed blockers and get into the opposing backfield. Last season, he totaled 41 tackles and four interceptions.

At 6’2″ 175-pounds, Ford has great size for a corner with great speed, something defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach, Bryan Brown, looks for at the position.

Ford will be able to play right away for the Cards and should see the field immediately. Though Louisville has several corners returning from last season, several of them don’t necessarily fit into the scheme that Brown likes to play outside.

Presley Meyer wrote about Ford shortly before he visited campus last month, saying:

"Ford’s real weakness is fundamental tackling. However, he is a master at squaring up to an offensive player, regardless of size, and not letting him get past him. In defensive coordinator Bryan Brown’s scheme, he values speed and big-play ability. Unlike what was expected from Brian VanGorder last season, Ford wouldn’t be asked to make a ton of tackles 1-on-1 in open space. Instead, he is a player who would thrive under the team mentality of flying to the ball."

Lousiville got involved late with Ford, as the corner took his fifth and final visit to the Ville. It shows great closing ability by the staff, and the pickup will certainly pay off big time for the Cards this fall.
