Louisville Football’s Scott Satterfield era kicks off on Labor Day night when the Fighting Irish come to town.

New Louisville football head coach Scott Satterfield is going to find out right away if the culture change around Louisville’s program has taken effect.

Head Coach Brian Kelly’s Notre Dame Fighting Irish brings their golden domes and legions of fans to Cardinal Stadium for the first time on Monday, September 2.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools since Reggie Bonnafon led the Cards to an emotional victory in South Bend in 2014.

The Fighting Irish will, no doubt, be a top-10 team coming into the match-up, as they were picked tenth in The Sporting News’ Post-Spring rankings.

The Irish finished the 2018 season with a 12-1 record and placing fifth in the final AP poll.

They took an undefeated record into the College Football Playoff, where they ran into the buzzsaw that was the eventual National Champion, the Clemson Tigers. Notre Dame was blown out of the Cotton Bowl, 30-3.

That loss left a black eye on an otherwise impressive season, that included wins over ranked teams Michigan, Stanford, Virginia Tech, and Syracuse.

The Irish will be looking to replace eleven players taken by NFL teams (six drafted, five undrafted free-agents.)

Expectations for the 2019 version of Notre Dame football is sky-high, with players, coaches, and fans all looking for a return trip to the CFP.

Who will the Cardinals line-up against? Who will be the key players for the Irish? What must Louisville do to secure a victory? Let’s dive-in to the Notre Dame preseason preview.
