Louisville football: An underrated player at each position for the Cards
Defensive Line
Thurman Geathers
Out of a group of defensive line newcomers in 2018 that included Jarrett Jackson, Jared Goldwire, and Michael Boykin, most around the program will forget about Thurman Geathers.
The redshirt freshman edge rusher could be a beast in the making for the Cards if given the time on the field. For a team that struggled to get much push on the defensive front in 2018, the Cards could use every body they can get.
Geathers is definitely one of the lighter edge rushers on the team at 6’3,” 230-pounds, but he uses his long wingspan well to help separate himself from potential blockers and turns on the jets to get around the edge into the backfield.
On a team where every position is open, and for a unit that didn’t live up to expectations in back-to-back years, there’s a lot of potential for a young guy like Geathers to step in right away this season and be a big-time help as a pass rusher for Louisville football.
