Alex Stengel – Louisville football will surpass their projected win total and make a bowl game in 2019

There are always a few ways you can tell summer is finally full bloom:

Longer days.

Lots of heat.

And college football win totals announced by sportsbooks for the upcoming season.

As it stands, Louisville is currently projected by Vegas and national media alike to add a whopping 1 1/2 – 2 wins from the circus that was last season – landing the over/under win total at four.

I like those odds.

I like those odds a lot.

So much so – I’m basing my bold prediction on it.

Louisville goes over their current win projection by three games. Louisville is going 7-6. Yup.

Am I delusional? Maybe it’s the heat – but I believe if this team can find their rhythm early in the season, they have a fighting chance to finish the season at .500 and make a bowl game. Seriously.

Notre Dame and Clemson are a definite long shot.

EKU and WKU should be victories (for the most part).

The team gels early. Pass gets his mojo back. Louisville becomes road warriors, stealing games at Wake Forest, Ledford’s old stomping grounds at NC State, and even sneak a W out of Tallahassee.

Sorry, Willy.

The sixth win comes with Satterfield earning his first ACC victory in Louisville, beating Syracuse in the Cards final home game.

You could substitute the Syracuse win for Boston College, but realistically I see the Cards dropping one of those home games.

And then it’s Bowl Season – and Scott Satterfield doesn’t lose Bowl games.

…or they could win four. Here’s to the former though.
