at Wake Forest

October 12th

For the first time since 2017, the Cards will head into an ACC matchup with a winning record (iny my predictions at least). They’ll do so against Wake Forest, in what I believe to be the most winnable ACC game on the schedule.

After two straight disastrous performances against Wake Forest, the Cards will go up against a team without primary weapons Greg Dortch and long-time rival Matthew Colburn. Thank god. However, where ever he’s coached Dave Clawson has been tremendous in year four, and there’s plenty of momentum in Winston-Salem to continue upward.

There’s inexperience at the quarterback position for Wake Forest this season, which should give Louisville a nice opportunity to wreak havoc and force turnovers, something Bryan Brown defenses have been pretty damn good at during his time as a DC. Force Wake into turnovers and this game is yours.

Without several key pieces returning on offense, a young quarterback at the helm, and a defense that really struggled last season (ACC’s second-worst total defensive team), I think this is a game that Louisville controls start to finish and one that gives fans piece of mind knowing that Louisville losing to Wake Forest is a thing of the past.

Prediction: Louisville 27, Wake Forest 17

Record: 4-2
