Clemson

October 19th

Here is where the wheels will start to fall off quite a bit for Louisville, and I don’t mean that in a bad way whatsoever. With a team that went 2-10 last season and a roster that was so horribly mismanaged, there’s going to be a point in the season where teams just overpower the Cards. Unfortunately, with a tough schedule, there’s going to be weeks at a time where that happens, and this is where it starts.

Again, I don’t think that Louisville winning four out of their first six games will be mean that they are destined for a big-time bowl game, and I also don’t believe that losing big to Clemson and then struggling with really good teams after that means that Louisville won’t be able to get back to where they’ve been in years past.

It just means that there’s a lot of work left to do over the coming years.

With so many good players in the ACC, it’s crazy to think that 12-15 of the conferences best players reside on one team – but that’s the case with Clemson.

Trying to stop Heisman favorite Trevor Lawrence, running back Travis Etienne, wide receivers Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross, and then once again the mammoth defensive line will be near impossible for a Cards team that lacks depth, and has several holes on the roster.

Can they compete? Will they avoid laying down and giving up 55-plus points? Those are the questions that will need to be answered in a game like this. It’s likely to get ugly fast, but if Louisville can hang in there and make plays on offense, defense, and special teams, it will at least keep everyone encouraged.

Prediction: Louisville 17, Clemson 49

Record: 4-3
