Jonathan Byers | Steven Enoch

Jonathan Byers is one of the more misunderstood characters among the cast of Stranger Things. Though he is introverted, he is extremely brave and is able to assert his independence. We see his determination in season one to find his brother, and he sets out mostly on his own to solve the mystery.

If there’s a character that could be defined by his toughness in all three seasons, it has to be Jonathan. He was able to grow up in a world without his father and where he was bullied and labeled as socially awkward, yet emerged as a strong protagonist who saves the day and gets the girl in the end.

If there’s a player that is most like Jonathan, it’s Steven Enoch. Though he is much more extroverted than Jonathan’s character, Enoch is a tough, gritty player that grew up in a hurry in his first year playing at Louisville.

After two tough years at UConn, Enoch sat out a year under David Padgett and then had a major breakout year in 2018-19. Enoch proved his worth so much that he was able to seriously consider entering and leaving his name in the NBA draft.

Like Jonathan, Enoch is often underestimated, but he is the complete package. Enoch has built a solid back-to-the-basket game and demonstrates touch from all over the floor. At times, he can bully smaller defenders and be an absolute terror for the opposition- just as Jonathan Byers was a horrifying sight for the creatures in the Upside Down.
